#Command and conquer remastered collection series#
Who knows? Maybe we’ll hear something about another remaster of a fan favorite series that people have been asking for for an entire console generation. The company changed its tune a few years later, and Command & Conquer’s treatment shows the company isn’t halfassing them either. If only there were another series that could really use that kind of push and attention from EA that anyone else could think of. This matters because the company has been a noted detractor of remasters. If Command & Conquer isn’t your jam, this at the very least shows that Electronic Arts is really willing to go in on remasters of games that it knows people have a strong affinity for. It includes everything in the Special Edition, along with 6-disc remastered soundtrack signed by composer Frank Klepacki, a 100+ page art book, reversible beanie, and replicas of the Metal Mammoth tank, a Tesla Coil, and an Obelisk. If the Special Edition just doesn’t feel special enough, the $149.99 25th Anniversary Edition is also an option. The Special Edition will run you $59.99, and along with the game includes a USB made to look like a tiberium crystal with 7 hours of music on it, as well as a physical copy of the soundtrack, a reversible poster, four pins, prints representing the game’s four factions, and a sticker sheet. While the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection is available to pre-order on Steam and Origin now for $19.99, there are also two collector’s editions courtesy of Limited Run Games, a company that creates physical editions of typically digital games, both in the form of standard boxed copies, as well as more pricey and extravagant collector’s editions. “We’re taking the classic gameplay that ushered in a new era of the RTS genre and adding the most fan requested features like Skirmish mode for Tiberian Dawn, quality of life control improvements, and full Steam integration with UGC support. “Our team has been working hand-in-hand with the C&C community since day one and we hope this transparent dialogue will result in the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection being a love letter to our fans,” said EA Lead Producer Jim Vessella. Multiplayer has also seen a pretty significant overhaul, including custom games, 1v1 quick match, leaderboards, and replays. This feedback resulted in the inclusion of a revamped UI, modified controls, and a map editor with sharing capabilities. The project was originally announced back in 2018, and after collecting fan feedback, went under wraps. All of these have gotten updated graphics and textures, 4K support, a completely remastered soundtrack. The C&C: Remastered Collection includes Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn, Command & Conquer: Red Alert and three expansion packs: Covert Ops, Counterstrike and The Aftermath. What? Did that description seem to fit another Electronic Arts franchise to you? Weird. Command & Conquer: Remastered Collection is coming to both Origin and Steam on June 5. EA has announced a long-awaited and highly-requested remaster of a series of games that is beloved by millions of people worldwide.
